Volunteer Profile: Daisy Nguyen

‘Idea Exchange helps build relationships. It keeps things interesting’. Daisy Nguyen

Like most fifteen year olds Daisy Nguyen is always busy. She loves to sing, draw, jog, play badminton, and binge-watch her favorite TV shows (currently Korean drama). Passionate about the arts, helping people and connecting with family, Daisly juggles school and extracurricular demands with a ‘one step at a time, just take it easy and things will work out’ attitude.

But somehow Daisy always finds time to squeak in just a little more volunteering. In her two years at Idea Exchange Daisy has pretty much done it all. From March Break and summer specials to children’s programs and craft prep, Daisy has rolled up her sleeves to help us out. Her favorite experience so far has been French Reading Buddies. There the teen volunteers partner-up with younger children for activities en francais. Sure the French was challenging, but it wasn't getting the French words right, but helping the quiet, more withdrawn kids loosen up and feel confident that could be the most tricky. And the most rewarding.

Daisy’s newest Idea Exchange position is on the Teen Media Team, where she contributed to the #iexchallenge among other things. Currently the president of the Arts Council at PHS, any opportunity to explore the arts is bound to get Daisy’s attention, and we’re happy about that. Teen volunteers like Daisy bring oodles of creative energy to the table at Idea Exchange so we like to keep these opportunities coming.

“Initially I picked Idea Exchange to complete my hours, but got to love it so much that I stayed”.

We’re glad about that too! Hope you stay for a very long time Daisy!
