The Journey Series: Forgiveness #4
1999
1999
This is one of seven quilts from the Journey Series, which explores the psychological complexities of forgiveness. Memory is integral to this process, as one cannot forgive what is forgotten. This quilt bears the collective scars (burn holes, stains, red) of our society: racism, war, violence, adultery, rape, discrimination- memories of betrayal. Grids map, order, and imprison. Dissolving grids map the bumpy, expansive terrain of forgiveness, freeing us from the bondage of bitterness and hate. Red subtly reminds us of our wounded world and of our need for liberating forgiveness.
