Auto Tapestry
1993
1993
Following the expansion of the Queen’s Square location in 1993, the Cambridge Library and Gallery held a province-wide competition for the commission of a work of art for the lobby. Of the 40 entries, Toronto-based artist Badanna Zack’s work was selected. The wall-mounted sculpture consists of hundreds of small, laser cut steel automobile images arranged in a pattern suggesting a woven tapestry. The work reflects the historic shift in Cambridge’s industrial landscape from textile to automobile manufacturing.
