The artist was influenced by the textiles of specialized widths used for different elements in the making of the Kimono, displayed in Vancouver shops catering to the Asian community. The overall shape of a stylized kimono can be seen in the way the Barbara Cohen has aligned the rolls of fabric within the structure of the frame.
