Broken Dishes (Good Girls Don't Get Angry)
1994
1994
Broken Dishes is about women’s anger. It wasn’t made specifically about mothering, but the dress was Lise's mother’s who would throw dishes when angry. Lise repeated the action of throwing dishes at the time she was making the quilt. Through the action of throwing dishes the artist draws connections between herself and her mother, as it was something Lise started doing only after having a child herself.
