Cross 399 (Day and Night)
1996
1996
The cross is one of the most extensively distributed and oldest symbols. The dramatic juxtaposition of strong vertical and horizontal arms could symbolize the interpenetration of two opposed realms such as heaven and earth, spiritual and temporal, masculine and feminine, active and contemplative, or of time and space. This work explores these ideas with particular interest in the midpoint of the crossroads as representative of the area of equilibrium between these opposing realms and thus the perfected human being.
