Four Season Rug (Canadian)

Tammy Ratcliff

Four Season Rug (Canadian)
2010

Through her intaglio, monotype prints, and mixed media works, Tammy Ratcliff explores her fascination with the natural world and its strength and beauty. The work draws attention to imperfections and impermanence of all living things. From asymmetry in nature, to odd shaped spaces between branches, or the awkward curl of one petal on a flower, is where Ratcliff's curiosity begins. Her work, composed of numerous parts and pieces, is often built through layers of printed fine paper. Process and materials are as important to Ratcliff's work as are the themes of place, nostalgia, and a sense of calm.
