Linen Field #2

Mylene Boisvert

Linen Field #2
2013

Mylène Boisvert has been continually refining the expressive potential of linen paper after first working with the material to create a piece for the International Linen Biennial of Portneuf. Her interest in linen paper is rooted in her family background. At the beginning of the last century, her maternal great-grandmother grew linen as a crop which she spun and wove into fabric for her family. Boisvert was inspired by these pieces, many of which she grew up with, and by this tradition of skilled artisanship. The paper work she makes is a continuation and evolution of this heritage.
