In Polestar, Dorothy Caldwell takes traditional quilt making techniques and gives them a contemporary twist. The embroidery in this work refers to furrows in fields giving an aerial perspective of the landscape. It was included in the artist’s exhibition, Field Notes which travelled across Canada in the late 1990’s.
