Summer Building Custodian

What You’ll Do

Are you energetic with an eye for detail? Do you take pride in your work and find satisfaction in a job well done?  Cambridge Public Library is seeking to hire a hard-working Summer Building Custodian to work this summer. Does this appeal to you? Read on!

As a Summer Building Custodian, a large part of your duties will be undertaking grounds maintenance such as removing debris, removing weeds and tidying gardens, sweeping and cleaning walkways. You will be an important part of the facilities team by performing various essential cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dumping garage and recycle bins, performing all cleaning aspects of offices, board rooms, restrooms, lunchroom and public areas as well as washing walls and windows.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Excellent attention to detail, enjoy working outside and don’t mind getting your hands a bit dirty.
  • Previous cleaning experience is an asset.
  • You will be required to work with others, therefore excellent people skills and a positive attitude is essential.
  • Basic computer knowledge is also a requirement.

  • This position is grant funded through Canada Summer Jobs. Pay: $19.03 per hour

Hours: 70 hours in a two-week period

Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm, includes a 1-hour unpaid meal break.  The schedule is subject to change.

This is a full-time, contract position beginning July 7th and ending August 29th, 2025.
