Introducing New Self-Check Stations

Self-check station on counter.

During your next visit to one of Cambridge Public Library’s locations, you will notice new self-check stations. While they look a little different with a sleek black design and a built-in RFID scanner, they offer the same ease of use and convenience in an updated package.

Self-Check Functions

With the self-checks, you can:

  • Check out items
  • Renew items (if eligible)
  • Look at your library account
  • Print a receipt of your current borrowing
  • Reserve public computers and release print jobs (at select locations)

Accessibility and Convenience

The new self-checks also provide handy features for accessibility and ease of use, such as:

  • Increase font size
  • Increase contrast on the screen
  • Change the screen height
  • Translate the self-check text into languages other than English, including French, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, and Mandarin

Feel free to give the self-checks a try to experience the features for yourself. If you’re curious but would appreciate some initial guidance, staff are also happy to help you get started with the new stations.
