Introducing the UserWay Accessibility Widget
While exploring our website recently, you may have noticed a round, purple button with a person-shaped icon at the lower left corner of homepage. This helpful button is our new UserWay Accessibility Widget, which provides new features for visitors to the website get the most out of their library experience online.
Tools for an easier online experience
To try the UserWay tools for enhancing online accessibility, click on the purple button to see the menu of customization options:
- Select your preferred Language to translate our website into French, Portuguese, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Punjabi and more than 50 other international languages.
- Use the Accessibility Profiles feature to optimize the website at a single click. There are pre-set profiles geared to people experiencing visual impairments, difficulties with motor function, epilepsy or seizures, as well as dyslexia, ADHD, and other types of neurodivergence.
- Set up your website view based on what’s uniquely comfortable to you.
The Custom Tools menu allows you to:
- Adjust screen reader speed and performance
- Change text size and spacing
- Increase screen contrast
- Highlight links page navigation
- Choose a dyslexia-friendly font
- Look up words in an online dictionary
- Hide images or pause page animations
- Add a cursor, reading mask or highlighter
- Show tooltips
This new online widget is yet another way that Cambridge Public Library is building on its commitment to accessible collections, services, and spaces, both in person and through our online presence.
