Dawn MacNutt
Copper Apple
c. 1980
c. 1980
Dawn MacNutt was commissioned to create a gold apple in the early ‘80’s, the challenge required leaving the rigid format of loom weaving which had previously featured heavily in her practice. Her seminal work in using basketry techniques was Apple, a trial piece before working the commissioned piece in gold. It was exhibited in an exhibition of small works at Convergence Handweaver’s Guild of America Conference in Toronto and purchased by the late Helen Frances Gregor at that time.
