Following the award-winning success of the Multi-Sensory Room at Clemens Mill and with feedback from community members, sensory resources are now available at all locations.
“We reviewed feedback from community members and recognized the need for additional resources for individuals affected by sensory sensitivities, particularly younger visitors to our programs,” said Andrea Siemens, Manager of Youth Services. “The introduction of this new collection helps us ensure that everyone feels welcome and has the opportunity to participate fully in the library’s spaces.”
Introducing the new Sensory Collection at your library! The collection includes items designed to reduce stress and anxiety while providing comfort. Available items include noise-cancelling headphones, weighted stuffed animals, stretchy bands, and massage rollers. These resources aim to enhance engagement in various activities, whether learning, socializing, or simply navigating the environment around us.
The Sensory Collection is available for in-library use on a first-come, first-served basis in each Youth Services Department.
Cambridge Public Library offers a variety of collections that make reading, learning, and entertainment accessible to everyone. The Sensory Collection is one of the latest efforts to reinforce the library's commitment to accessible collections, services, and spaces.
