We are excited to announce that as of Friday, December 22, the exterior renovations to our Preston location have been completed. With the completion of this project, the following has reopened:Front entrance to the buildingExterior book returnOn-site parkingFront courtyardOur members and community are welcome to visit and explore the updated space after it received improvements for accessibility and updates to the ageing façade. 

Michael and Ashish are two friendly faces in our IT Department. Michael has been with us since 2014, but before that, he started as an intern with the department. Ashish has been a part of Idea Exchange for two years. He has worked as system administration, network administration, and providing technical support to staff. They both play a vital part in the technology services we provide, including access to Wi-Fi, computers, and other systems.

Symposium Piece for Eva by Canadian sculptor Haydn Davies has been installed at our Queen’s Square location since 1997. After an extensive deaccessioning process, which included consultation with the artist’s family, it was decided that the work be removed from its Queen’s Square location. On November 21, 2023, the work was returned to the Davies family. As a community, we have enjoyed this important Canadian sculpture for over 25 years.

Daniel and Chris are two friendly faces in the Creative Studios at Idea Exchange's Old Post Office location, supporting members in developing technical skills related to visual storytelling and sound. Daniel is an experienced filmmaker and Chris is a talented audio engineer and musician.What current project of yours are you most excited about?

Graphic novels and comic books are becoming ever more popular at our Queen’s Square location. The collection has been growing so much, it was recently moved to a larger space.

Idea Exchange is in the process of developing a Strategic Plan to guide our work between 2024 and 2027.Our Community Survey closed on Sunday, September 10, 2023, and we are grateful for the detailed and insightful feedback provided by community members. We received overwhelmingly positive responses about Idea Exchange. Many in the community expressed appreciation for having the opportunity to provide input as part of this process.Key takeaways from survey responses included:

Hespeler is a close-knit community that loves to come together and celebrate. We (Niketa and Shaun) are inspired by this sense of community in the programming we do for our Hespeler location, creating a place where everyone is welcome and engaged. What current project of yours are you most excited about?

Idea Exchange now has vinyl records to check out. Celebrate the return of vinyl by borrowing a record to take home or relaxing with our in-house vinyl record listening station. Both are located on the second floor of Idea Exchange, Queen’s Square.

At Clemens Mill, Active Living is more than just a unique collection: it’s a state of mind. Clemens Mill team members, Kimberley and Kathleen, tap into the energy of this dynamic location for their work, from designing displays to hosting programming. What current project of yours are you most excited about?
